Community land trusts (CLTs) collectively own land to protect housing and community space from speculative market forces. CLTs ensure housing stays affordable for the people who actually live in the neighbourhood.
CLTs also provide space for community groups as well as develop opportunities for local entrepreneurship and local self-governance. They work with public and private landowners to transfer land and buildings to collective, community ownership.
